Experience our old town from the waterside! Venture on an idyllic canoe trip down the stream that runs through the town center.

The season for canoe rentals opens again on June 1st 2025.

Welcome to VisitKøge's self-service canoe rental

Rent a canoe from the backyard of VisitKøge's office, and experience Køge from the waterside.

Price: DKK 200 per canoe.
Duration: 1 hour and 45 minutes. You will have plenty of time to reach both the harbour and past the nearby manor Gl. Kjøgegaard in the opposite direction.

Distance: You can sail 2 km to Gl. Kjøgegaard and 0.5 km to the harbour, a total of 5 km.

Equipment: We provide life jackets and paddles - follow the arrows to the sheds in the garden. The life jackets range from 10 kg upwards. After your trip, we kindly ask you to show consideration by returning the equipment and canoes in the same condition that you would like to receive them.

Storage of belongings: As the garden is a public area, we recommend that you bring all your belongings with you on the canoe.

Participants: There must be at least two of you sailing the canoe and one must be an adult! One canoe holds a maximum of three adults, or two adults and two children.

Address: Vestergade 3C, 4600 Køge (the corner of Køge Torv). Follow the canoe signs through the gate to the right of the self-service tourist office, down to the garden and the stream.

Your order is binding: Be careful to choose the right date and time when you book. After the booking has been completed, the rights of cancellation are waived. Your order is binding and cannot be changed.

Tips for your canoe trip

  • You must not enter the boat intoxicated.
  • The sun on the water is strong, so remember sunscreen and a hat.
  • You can bring drinks and food on board. Use the trash cans on the dock to clean up after yourselves.
  • We recommend that you take all your belongings with you in the canoe. Leaving personal items on the dock is at your own risk.
  • Please note that there is no access to a toilet near the canoes. Use the public toilets on Nørregade next to Køge Museum.

Please note

  • Respect nature and do not disturb any nesting birds.
  • As the old manor house, Gl. Kjøgegaard, is private property and disembarking at the main building is not allowed.
  • It is not possible to reach Café Åsen via the stream, as disembarking here is not permitted.

We hope you have a nice trip!
